This build is made for Inferno. What it requires, is that your Wizard has no vitality gear, but a lot of life regeneration gear instead. Your max life is going to be around 4700 in total with no vitality gear - not much for inferno most would say! The deal is that some of the elite monsters on inferno, would kill you with one hit anyway. I explain later.
Skills, and why i chose them:
Energy armor + Force armor rune = You can MAX loose 35% of your life (1645 life with no vitality gear). ...

Hats off to the guy who posted the youtube clip of him farming Act 2 with 5 stacks using a Throw/Sprint build. Whether or not he knows it he has stumbled upon what is quite possibly the best ability of the class. Yes, you read that right. Sprint with the "Run Like The Wind" rune for the 60% Weapon Damage tornadoes is amazing.
I ditched throw to test if whether or not just using Sprint/Run Like the Wind + Battle rage/In to the Fray was viable in of itself. ...

This build focus on survivability of you and your pets. Your pets need to keep alive so they can tank for you. I've completed the game with this build, so its viably through act 4 inferno. Some elites can be pretty hard on act 3 and 4. Mortar is a bitch :-) The pets survivability is pretty good after patch 1.0.4. They can take ridiculous amount of damage now - but this also depends on your own gear/stats.

Focused on creating MAX AOE damage with Arcane Orb.
How to use:
1. Create a familar, with sparkflint rune. This will give you 12% more damage. Passive skill Glass canon also gives you 15 % more damage.
2. When attacking, summon a hydra, get close to a group of monsters and use Arcane Orb, dealing a lot of AOE damage. Use diamond Skin when you get low on life (you need to be pretty close to monsters with Arcane Orb). Use Archon when available and there is a lot of monsters to hit (to increase the duration of Archon).

My own version of the very popular Wizard build, including the passive "Critical Mass".
You want a high critical hit chance, I will say go for at least 20 %. Arcane power on crit. is also preferable, 8-10 should do it.
Spectral Blade + Healing Blades: High damage + healing.
Energy Twister + Wicked Wind: Primary attack. Spam this on the enemies while they are frozen, gives you lots of crits to reduce cooldowns.
Diamond Skin + Crystal Shell: PROTECTION! Spam this, it keeps you alive. ...

Hell wasnt that much of a Problem with this build:
Living Lighning is going to be used in combo with items that give Life on Hit, which is pretty insane especially against masses. Since it even harmonizes very well with prodigy, you almost never run out of Arcane Power. Only negative point on LL is the slow movement but thats where the Orb and Hydra comes into play.
Switch Archon for Mirror Image to fight Izual.
With a good amount of Life on Hit you can just stand there, spam LL and tank. Archon for Bosses/Rare Encounters.

If you like AOE with a dash of melee, this is where it's at. This build can be used entirely thoughout the leveling process of the monk. It will make a hero amongst team mates, mainly the squishies. This is how it goes.

Hungering Arrow with Puncturing Arrow - easy one shot Hatred generator. Rune is really not set since I am looking for pure DPS with this.
Rapid Fire with Web Shot - this is DPS with CC. I took Cull the Weak purely because this is going to be where the damage is needed and Vengeance helps supply that extra Hatred to maintain fire. Some fast calculations: with Vengeance I can maintain Rapid Fire for 15 seconds on full Hatred with Marked for Death on a single target. Without Marked for Death I still get a full 10 seconds of fire on anything in the area. ...

Port onto them, frost nova, blink back, and blizzard away. Follow with frost nova then mirror image and rinse and repeat. Ray of Frost can be spammed in between everything as it is free to cast.
1-hander and a shield. Mainly stack Vit/Str Int is your 3rd stat to worry about. In a lay out of skills You warcry for health and the regen and armor you leap into the fray and boom 4 secs of godliness. Threaten Shout to taunt everyone on you for 3 sec rend. Weith all the dmg from rend frenzy and revenge you can stay alive in Hell diff really nicely. The point is that you regen hp faster then you lose it. If you feel froggy and wish to do more dmg then tankyness then dual wield, just make sure Vit/Str/Int and life per hit is nice also with frenzy. Hope everyone likes this build. ...
This is a very good build for taking out diablo solo on hell (i havent tried this yet on another boss) with 17000 dps. With a poison gargatuan out, you reduce diablos damage by 20%, plus the 20% for the other passive ability. For the first part of the fight, use big bad voodoo, then spam the zombie bears. Their poison damage also makes it so that diablo only does 60% of his actual damage. If ever you're in danger, spirit walk away. What I also did was spirit walk to diablo before spamming the bears. Cast Haunt every now and then to assure that u always have mana. ...
A fun farming build that requires relatively modest (for now) gear and works with patch 1.0.5.
A working play strategy

1. Find some prey and approach to just outside of their "Im going to kill you range"
2. Drop Caltrops and take a step back
3. Drop 1-3 spike trap(s) in the middle of Caltrops
- drop them in a vertical line to maximize the number of hits as they progress through Caltrops

Use Frenzy to build fury and to run down tough monsters. Then spam Hammer for crowd control. Battle Rage and War Cry should always be up. Wrath when facing tough groups or to finish a crowd off. Ideally use Axes/Mace

This build focus on getting max damage with a level 13 build, which is the highest allowed level in the Diablo 3 beta.
How to use this build:
1. Use the soul harvest, for optimal use, use it with 5 enemies within your range. This gives you a 130 intelligence boost for each monster.
2. Your Poisen Dart now deals a whole lot of damage!

Defense, heal, and aoe. This is what I use to stay alive in Inferno with less than 18k health.

Fire bats is your main attack if monsters are immune to fire use Locus Swarm. When in trouble use Spirit Walk to become invincible, faster and also regain Mana. Also use soul harvest with the siphon rune to regain health.
Your 2 slow cooldown spells are Gargantuan and Fetish Army.
Your passive skills are Vision Quest Spirit Vessel and Jungle Fortitude.
Some may question ungle Fortitude because my pet's won't need in this build but extra health is always good especially when your mana is pretty much infinite with Spirit walk and Vision Quest.

Hella AoE (Splash damage) and damage, all you need is someone to take hits for you while you blast away.
